Easter Bunny Making

10am-4pm (1-hour sessions)

Get into the Easter spirit and build your very own Easter Bunny with Avon Heath Outdoors. Use our homemade kits to create a bunny with its own unique character.

All children must bring an adult. Suitable for ages 4+. Booking in advance recommended, but drop-in spaces may be available.

Cost £10 per bunny.

Easter egg hunt

Join Avon Heath Outdoors for a fun Easter egg hunt in the Country Park. Use your detective skills to navigate the trail and solve the clues! Follow the map, find the eggs, hit the target, crack the code, and win a prize. Look out for fun activities along the way!

Cost £5 per child.

Bobby’s Big Day Out activity trail

Bobby the Bunny is having a great time exploring the heath! But with so many new animals to meet and smells to follow, he soon gets lost. Can you help Bobby find his mummy and identify the creatures he meets along the way?

Pick up your trail pack from the Visitor Centre every day between 10am to 4pm.

Trail packs cost £4 and include a prize.

 

Dawn Chorus

Sunday 4 May from 6am.

Set your alarm clock and come and celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day with us! Embark on a morning walk with Richard, our local grazier and wildlife expert, around North Park. Immerse yourself in the wonderful sounds of the dawn chorus, nature's finest symphony. The perfect way to start your day.

Watercolour painting workshop

Thursday 15 May from 10am to 12:30pm.

Join local artist Julie Redwood on this relaxing, small group watercolour class. Julie will provide all the materials and expertise you need to create a beautiful watercolour painting to take home.

This month, the theme is flowers celebrating the colours and new life of spring. Complete beginners are very welcome.

£30 per person.

Hippocampus silver jewellery workshop

Monday 19 May from 10am to 1pm.

Discover the wonderful world of silversmithing with experienced silversmith Jen from Hippocampus silver. A 3-hour workshop to learn the basics- from designing, sawing, filing, soldering, texturing with hammers and polishing - and create your very own hammered silver ring. £50 per person, all materials included.

Health Walks

A frosty morning on the heath, the heather is covered by a layer of ice, with tall conifers in the background.
Our Health Walks are on Tuesdays from 2pm to 3pm, leaving from the Visitor Centre. Led by our team of friendly volunteers they are a chance to walk with a group and perhaps make some new friends.

Special offer for any new Health Walker - get free parking for your first three weeks. And of course, the walks are also free.

You must register for the walk and complete our health questionnaire before you attend. We recommend arriving a few minutes before to check in with the walk leader. Find out more about Dorset Health Walks.

Mini Scots Pine Bonsai workshop

Saturday 28 June 2025. £20 per session, flat rate, which includes families, couples and individuals. 

You need to commit to attending all 3 sessions to fully enjoy this workshop.

Fascinated by the Japanese art of Bonsai? Then sign up for this special 3 stage Bonsai workshop with enthusiasts Barre and Peter.

Introductory talk in October followed by a group walk on the heath to identify mini Scots Pines perfect for shaping.

Return in February and join Barre and Peter out on the heath to dig up and pot your 3 specimens and get more tips about pruning and caring for your trees at home.

In June return for the final session with your 3 trees for more tips on pruning, shaping and care from Barre and Peter.
