As part of our ongoing traffic signal refurbishment programme, the two-way shuttle signals in Lewell, near Dorchester, have been refurbished.
The signals manage alternate flow traffic under Lewell Railway Bridge at the eastern end of the West Stafford Bypass, but the equipment needed to be brought up to modern standards and latest technology.
Maintenance bays have been installed as part of the work to ensure safe working for future maintenance of the equipment. Hard-standing is also now in place around the signal controller, chambers and poles to ensure these remain accessible to our engineers.
