Opportunity to be included in the High Opportunity Nature Areas
High Opportunity Nature Areas are where effort and funding should be targeted to achieve the most for nature recovery and the wider environment. They are one of the maps being produced as part of the Dorset local nature recovery strategy.
If you are doing something on your land to help nature recovery in some way or are thinking about something different with your land within the next 10 years this is the land we want to be included in those areas. Find out more about the benefits of being included, key information and how to submit your land by 11 October 2024.
Species priority list
The Dorset species task and finish group held a workshop to form the species priority list for the Dorset local nature recovery strategy. The group followed Defra's prioritisation process to produce a priority list of around 50 priority species and habitat-based assemblages.
Final amendments are being made to the priority list and bespoke actions to support these species will input into the strategy.
Youth workshops
Youth workshop session were held via Dorset Council Youth Voice and BCP Council Youth Forum.
The workshops provided feedback on the draft priorities. Activities and ways to communicate the Nature Recovery Dorset network were suggested.
