Autumn and winter activities
Here’s a roundup of what’s been happening since our last update in August:
- we created a simple video to say exactly what the Dorset local nature recovery strategy is and will do, with the help from Olivia, a 15 year old work experience student. Take a look:
- we have mapped the areas in Dorset that are currently protected for nature - this is step 1 of the local nature recovery strategy process complete
- stakeholders are working on identifying the different pressures facing nature in Dorset and looking at opportunities for recovery
- we now have a communications and engagement plan and have been planning different ways to share stories and information about nature recovery – identifying who is already sharing stories, where there are gaps and who are the best people to deliver these messages
- we were invited to the Dorset Coast Forum Annual Conference and carried out a workshop to get marine input to the strategy work. It was great to hear everyone's ideas
- we have been gathering key information about the different nature recovery projects happening in Dorset
- we still want to hear from you if you are planning or delivering a project in Dorset and we have not contacted you then please fill out this form to Tell us about your nature recovery project
- Amy joined a panel of speakers for the Restoring Nature session at Dorset Conference of the Parties (COP)
New year, new nature recovery activities
Here’s what we’ve got coming up:
- a species task and finish group is being set up to identify the key species that will be identified for Dorset's local nature recovery strategy
- we are also gathering evidence on relevant plans and strategies to ensure the local nature recovery strategy links up with the priorities and actions
- a description of Dorset, it’s biodiversity and opportunities for recovery is being written and this will provide the foundation to set priorities for nature’s recovery in Dorset
